Seek Those Things Which Are Above

Seek Those Things Which Are Above

I am excited for the Fall.  September is always a start of a new year for me. Kids are back to school. People are coming back to church after summer holidays.  It is so exciting; new beginnings, new adventures, and new fresh encounters with God.

I have been pondering Colossians 3:1-4 over the summer. The Lord has me going deeper with Him into that portion of scripture.  Let me refresh you by sharing some versions of the scripture with you.

Colossians 3:1-4

NKJV – If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

TPT – Christ’s resurrection is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority![a] Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.Your crucifixion[b] with Christ has severed the tie to this life, and now your true life is hidden away in God in Christ. And as Christ himself is seen for who he really is, who you really are will also be revealed, for you are now one with him in his glory!

NLT – Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your[a] life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

For me that means because we know we are going from glory to glory and revelation to revelation, our understanding of God must evolve if we say that we are in Him and He is in us.  So in other words, I must by faith no longer “see” myself praying from this earthly realm because verse 3 says I am hidden in Christ and He is seated in the heavenly realms.  I must no longer sit outside the veil, sitting on my couch or in a church pew but I must set my mind and heart on things above, “SEEING” myself go through the veil that He has torn into His Kingdom.  I must GO before His gates with thanksgiving and ENTER His courts with praise (Psalm 100).

Do not let anyone tell you that you are so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good.  That is a lie.

We have a choice to set our MINDS on all the things above as we set our DESIRE to know Him deeper. As we do that, we see our true identity in Him and as we take our position in Him, we then become One with the Father which transforms us from the inside, eventually transfiguring us on the outside into His Sons of light and then we are seen as Him.  When He is seen or revealed, we are also seen and revealed inside of His Glory to all creation.  Imagine us sharing in all His Glory (verse 4)!

It is time for a

Metamorphosis.
